Supported Platforms

The SAP DCOM Connector 46D or higher will run on the following Windows platforms:  

However, it is strongly recommmended to run the DCOM Connector on Windows NT or Windows 2000.

Installation Requirments

Consult the following table for information on operating system, browser, and other dependency requirements for installation and use of the DCOM Connector 46D.

Installation Instructions

The DCOM Connector 46D will be shipped with SAP Frontend 46D as part of the RFC SDK. It is also available for download from SAP Open BAPI Network: http://www.sap.com/bapi.

You may either install the DCOM Connector as part of the installation of  SAP Frontend 46D or run a separate setup program to install the DCOM Connector independently.

To install the DCOM Connector as part of the installation of the SAP Frontend, please follow these steps:

  1. Start the SAPGUI setup program from your  SAP BASIS Presentation CD1.
  2. Select Workstation Installation.
  3. Enter the path to the destination directory .
  4. Select  Development Tools and click on Change Option.
  5. Make sure that  RFC SDK Libraries is checked.
  6. Select other options what you want to install.
  7. Follow the remaining instructions of the setup program to complete the installation.
  8. After finishing the setup, a link to the openning page of the DCOM Connector 46D will be added to the program group SAP Frontend.

To install the DCOM Connector 46D  by running the DCOM Connector Setup independently, follw these steps:

  1. Download the DCOM Connector 46D from http://www.sap.com/bapi, or loacte the package in the subdirectory \GUI\WINDOWS\WIN32\SAPGUI\RFCSDK\DCOMConnectorSetup from the  SAP BASIS Presentation CD1.
  2. Start the DCOM Connector setup program.
  3. Make sure that DCOM Connector is checked.
  4. Select any other components that you want to install.
  5. Follow the remaining instructions to complete the installation.
  6. If the setup is running on Windows NT, Windows 98 or Windows 95,  and the Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS)  has been installed on it, the DCOM Connector components will be configured as MTS packages.
  7. If the setup is running on Windows 2000, the DCOM Connector components will be configured as COM+ applications.
